Help Rescue a Cape Leopard

R0,00

Your generous donation plays a vital role in the conservation and preservation of our leopard populations in the Western Cape. Current estimates suggest that the leopard populations in South Africa's Western and Eastern Cape range between 175–588 and 365–429 individuals, respectively.

However, these figures encompass fragmented and isolated habitats that may struggle to sustain viable populations due to edge effects and limited space—issues that pose significant challenges for wide-ranging species like leopards. Research utilizing GPS collars, camera traps, and DNA analysis indicates that leopard populations across different regions may be isolated from one another.

For example, only 30–35 leopards remain in the expansive 3,500 km² Baviaanskloof area, while a mere 20–25 can be found within the 800 km² Garden Route forests. To secure the long-term survival of this species, it is essential to establish connections between these isolated populations.

Additionally, your contribution enables us to provide crucial tracking equipment, rescue materials, and on-the-ground support, ensuring swift access to rescue sites.
